{"id":3553,"date":"2020-01-15T13:24:00","date_gmt":"2020-01-15T12:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sednet.org\/?p=3553"},"modified":"2020-01-15T13:24:00","modified_gmt":"2020-01-15T12:24:00","slug":"navigating-a-changing-climate-conference-at-copedec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sednet.org\/navigating-a-changing-climate-conference-at-copedec\/","title":{"rendered":"Navigating a Changing Climate conference at COPEDEC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 19 and 20 November 2020, the Navigating a Changing Climate partners will organise a two-day conference as part of the 10th International Conference on Coastal and Port Engineering in Developing Countries (COPEDEC) to be held in The Philippines, hosted by The Philippine Ports Authority.<\/p>\n<p>The Navigating a Changing Climate initiative&#8217;s Action Plan recognises the important role of sediment in many places:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mitigation, notably Blue Carbon &#8211; the role of sediments in the support and management of coastal habitats as important carbon sinks; carbon offsetting opportunities<\/li>\n<li>How dynamic natural systems, including sediments, might be affected by climate change with\u00a0potential\u00a0consequences and challenges for navigation efficiency and safety;\u00a0related monitoring and adaptive management responses<\/li>\n<li>Adaptation and resilience &#8211; the role of sediments in sustaining, enhancing or creating habitats that capitalise on natural resilience or help strengthen resilience against the effects of\u00a0climate change; Working with Nature<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The SedNet community might therefore be interested in submitting abstracts against any of the following conference themes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Moving towards\u00a0\u2018net zero\u2019 emissions of greenhouse gases from port infrastructure\u00a0including the port estate<\/li>\n<li>Intermodality\u00a0and system-level climate change resilience<\/li>\n<li>Monitoring\u00a0and adaptive management for responding to change<\/li>\n<li>Climate change\u00a0adaptation, including theory and practice, methodologies and case studies<\/li>\n<li>Optimising\u00a0operational resilience, including the role of inspection and maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Flexible and\u00a0adaptive infrastructure design;\u00a0Nature-based solutions\u00a0to improve navigation infrastructure resilience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>See for details <a href=\"https:\/\/navclimate.pianc.org\/about\/navclimate-news\/call-for-abstracts-navigating-a-changing-climate-conference-at-copedec\" class=\"broken_link\">NaCC website<\/a>. <span style=\"display: inline !important; float: none; background-color: transparent; color: #333333; cursor: text; font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman','Bitstream Charter',Times,serif; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;\">Deadline for submitting abstracts is <strong>21 February 2020<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 19 and 20 November 2020, the Navigating a Changing Climate partners will organise a two-day conference as part of the 10th International Conference on Coastal and Port Engineering in Developing Countries (COPEDEC) to be held in The Philippines, hosted by The Philippine Ports Authority.
